Turn down the heating, keep warmth close
Why it can pay off to keep the room a little cooler and yourself a little warmer.
A room doesn't have to be warm everywhere for you to be warm. Often it's enough to bring warmth to wherever you're sitting or lying right now.
The idea
Heating warms all the air in the room. A hot water bottle warms you directly. If you're lying on the sofa or in bed in the evening, you can often turn the heating down a little and still not feel cold.
What it costs
Do the maths with your own electricity price: power while heating up times charging time gives you the consumption per evening. The Vaermflasche draws 350 W while heating up, and for 6 minutes at most. That's around 0.035 kWh. At 35 cents per kilowatt hour, one evening costs about one cent.
More tips
- Keep doors to unheated rooms closed.
- Open windows wide for a few minutes instead of leaving them tilted.
- Keep radiators clear, no furniture in front of them.
- Draw thick curtains in the evening.

Never boil water again. Plug in, 3–6 minutes, warm. Up to 70 °C, no battery, 30 nights to try.
